IAF trainer aircraft crashes in chennai outskirts

An Indian Air Force trainer jet crashed into a lake in Urapakkam, 35 Kms outside of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The aircraft was a two-seater Kiran trainer aircraft. It was returning to the Tambaram air force station after a routine training sortie.
The aircraft was flown by Commander C G Deepak who suffered severe injuries to the legs when his parachute got caught in a tree. His co-pilot, Squadron Leader K P Singh, landed safely. There were no causaluties reported. The injured pilot has been admitted to an hospital in Kancheepuram.
