Long distance travel in BRTS to cost more

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has increased in BRTS fares. The increase to become operational from April 1, is for long distance travel , according to a release issued by the AMTS.

Hike is of Rs 1. The Rs.one hike will be in Rs.22 and Rs.26 fare. Accordingly the corresponding new fares would be Rs.23 and Rs.27.

According to the release hike has done as per the government notification allowing hike every year due to increase in petrol and diesel prices. Now till April 2013 there would be no change in the fares of BRTS.

About 1.20 lakh people travel in BRTS buses daily and the hike would affect only 0.4 percent i.e. around 450 passengers.  There is no change in Rs.3,4,6 and 8 tickets.
