With temperatures rising by four-five degrees all over the state the met office on Monday issued two day heat wave warning for Saurasthra, Kutch and South Gujarat. the temperatures in these areas were 5 degrees above normal.
Temperatures touched above 41 degrees in most of the cities of the state with Porbander recording highest of 42.6 degrees. Bhuj had 42 degrees while Surt recorded 41.6 degrees. Ahmedabad remained less hot with 40 degrees and 21.8 minimum temperatures.
Temperatures in other cities were Vadodara- 40.6, Gandhinagar- 41.5, Idar-41.6, Dwarka- 39.2, Rajkot 40.9, Surendranagar-41.9 and Kandla-41.9
According to Indian Meteorological Department maximum temperatures were markedly above normal ( 5.1°C or more) at a few places over Saurashtra & Kutch; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, East Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Telangana, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Vidarbha and Tamilnadu and at a few places over Odisha, Kerala, Marathwada, Gujarat region and Coastal Karnataka. Temperature rose by 2-4°C at most parts of west Rajasthan, many parts of west Uttar Pradesh, Saurashtra & Kutch; few parts of Gujarat, east Rajasthan & Punjab and at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh.
