Passengers at Ahmedabad railway station will now be relieved of climbing stairs as the station has got escalators.
Ahmedabad is the first railway station in Gujarat to have escalators.
The up-down escalators have been installed at the cost of Rs. 1.44 crore and 9,000 passengers can use it in one hour. The Ministry of Railways has cleared a proposal to install two escalators at Gandhidham and one at Bhuj station. Ahmedabad station will have the service on all platforms in future, Divisional Railway Manager, Alok Tiwari said.
