The monsoon session of Gujarat Assembly began with the suspension of Congress MLAs for two days. This follows demand of Congress that the House must have discussion on the situation of Gujarat after rain havoc and flood fury and other issues.
When the Speaker ruled that it could not be taken up immediately, the agitating members began slogan shouting and entered into the well of the House. Speaker Vajubhai Vala suspended Congress members for the day. Minister Nitin Patel, however, moved a resolution that these members should be suspended for two days.
The House adopted the resolution and all Congress members were suspended for two days. The monsoon session is only for three days. The House was adjourned after mourning death of MLAs and important work is on the agenda for the second day.
It will be a smooth sailing for the ruling the ruling BJP in the absence of Opposition Congress. Among other things, the House will discuss two important Bills which have been returned by Governor Kamla Beniwal.
