Rains play spoilsport for Navratri in Gujarat

Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad

Widespread rains across the state have dampened the spirits of garba players with several functions being cancelled.

For the past two days there are rains in almost entire state. Garba venues are flooded with water forcing the organizers to cancel the events.

On Tuesday the city received around 1.5 inches of rains enough to flood the garba places. In the morning dark clouds hovered around the city and within few minutes heavy downpour started. Vibrant Navratri Mahotsav organized by the state government had to be cancelled as the GMDC ground where it is held is covered with water.

In Vadodara too the famous United Way garbas were cancelled on the second consecutive day on Tuesday. In Rajkot heavy rains forced cancellation of many events. In Amreli it rained 5 inches in 3 hours. Rains have taken away the enthusiasm of garba lovers and there is less traffic on streets during the night.
