Gujarat police gets custody of godman Asaram

Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad

A team of Gujarat Police team today received the custody of controversial god man Asaram fromwho in Jodhpur Central Jail. Gujarat police is investigating charges of sexual assault on two sisters by the god man.

Asaram is in Jodhpur jail since September 1 in another case of sexual assault. In this he is charged with molesting a minorgirl who was a student in his gurukul. Earlier in the day, the court of the district and sessions judge (Jodhpur rural) extended, till October 25, the judicial custody of the spiritual guru Asaram Bapu in this case.

Asaram is engaging all legal remedies to get out of the trouble sparked off by the complaint of gurukul student in August. He and his son both have moved Gujarat High Court for quashing of FIR against them by two Surat sisters.

Asaram Bapu’s son Narayan Sai, against whom a lookout notice has been issued in connection with a sexual abuse case, issued a clarification on Thursday in the form of newspaper advertisements.

In the advertisements published today in two Gujarati dailies, Sai claims that the case of sexual abuse lodged against was false and fabricated and that it was ‘’motivated.

He further claims innocence and says, he will “appear before the authorities at the right time”.

The clarification came a day after the Surat Police constituted six teams to look out for Sai, who has been untraceable ever since complaints of sexual assault were filed against the father-son duo by two sisters.

The Surat Police have also issued summons to Narayan Sai. Surat's Commissioner of Police Rakesh Asthana said that notices have been served at ashrams in Surat and Ahmedabad, asking Narayan to present himself before police at the earliest.

The lookout notice against Sai was issued on Monday after two sisters filed fresh sexual abuse complaints against the father-son duo.

The 72-year-old Asaram will now be brought to Ahemdabad.
