Godman Asaram remanded in police custody for four days

Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad

Gandhinagar Court today remanded godman Asaram in police custody for four days. Police had sought 14 day remand in a case of alleged rape of two sisters by Asaram and his son Narain Sai.

Godman Asaram who is trapped in series of allegations of his sexual assaults was brought to Ahmedabad on Monday evening. He was kept in the office of the Anti Terrorist Sqad in Ahmedabad on Monday night.

He was brought to Gandhinagar court in a convoy of more than a dozen police vehicles. Police had sought 14 day remand on investigation into 13 points related to the rape case. The Court, however, granted remand till October 19 only.

Asaram was in Jodhpur jail in judicial custody in a case of sexual molestation of a girl student of his Gurukul. He was in Jodhpur jail since September 1. Gandhinagar Court had issued orders for his transit remand in a case in which Surat based two sisters have alleged that Asaram and his son had raped them.

Though Jodhpur Court had allowed Gujarat police to take Asaram to Gujarat on a transit remand three days back, Gujarat police delayed his brining here on the ground of security threat.
