Gandhinagar Sessions Court today further remanded controversial godman Asaram in police custody for four days. Police had sought 10 day custody of Asaram who is facing rape charges by two sisters.
He was produced in the court after expiry of four day remand. Hundreds of Asaram supporters had gathered outside the Court. Later when Judge pronounced his order and Asaram was to be brought outside the Court police had to resort to lathi charge.
Demanding further remand, police said that Asaram was not cooperating in investigation and his behavior was quite hostile. Police said that some more women had come forward with complaints of molestation by Asaram.
In another development hearing of anticipatory bail of Asaram’s son Narayan Sai was adjourned to Monday when Sai’s advocate sought more time. This case had come up in Surat court.
Asara’s wife and daughter appeared before Chandkheda police. Even here supporters of Asaram created scene. Mother and daughter have also been named by two sisters who have alleged that Asaram and his son had raped them in Surat and Ahmedabad.
Asaram was arrested by Rajasthan police for molesting a girl student of his gurukul. He has been brought to Gujarat on a transit warrant in the case of complaint by two sisters.
