The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will sell bio gas generated at its sewerage treatment plant which will fetch around Rs.2.75 crore annually.
At present this gas is flared up. In a pilot project the AMC has cleared a proposal for selling 10,000 cubic metre of gas daily.
The contract has been awarded to Rockstone Infrastructure P Ltd which had offered highest price of Rs. 9.18 per cubic m. AMC will give 4,000 sq.m. of land to the company for setting up plant to extract gas. The contract has been awarded for 15 years with a clause of price revision every three years, Water supply committee chairman Suresh Patel said.
The AMC had invited tenders for the same and five companies had shown interest. One more company had quoted the same price but it had demanded 20,000 sq.m. of land to put up plant. Moreover, Rockstar Infrastructure has a similar project in Jaipur and is the only company in the country which executes such projects, he said.
