Godman Narayan Sai declared absconder

Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad

Godman Narayan Sai who has been evading arrest for more than a month was today declared absconder by Surat Sessions Court on Monday.

Surat police approached the court as a hunt for Narayan Sai remained futile. Narayan Sai and his father Asaram have been named in a complaint by two sisters who have alleged rape, sexual assault, illegal confinement and other charges by them. This complaint was filed on October 6.

Godman Asaram who is also involved in another case of molestation of a girl student of his Ashram was brought to Gandhinagar in this case. However, Narayan Sai is still at large.

The elder of the two sisters, in her complaint, had accused Asaram of sexual assault between 1997 and 2006 during the time she had been living in his ashram on the outskirts of Ahmedabad city.

The younger sister had filed a complaint against Sai, accusing him of repeated sexual assault between 2002 and 2005 when she was living in their Surat ashram. The whereabouts of Sai are not known.

Last week, Surat police made changes in the team investigating the case against Sai. Minister of State for Home has asserted that police would soon arrest Narayan Sai.
