The Gujarat High Court on Monday issued notice to the state government on a petition filed by Naryan Sai seeking quashing of his arrest warrant.
Sai is evading arrest for last one month and Surat police has declared him as wanted and has announced a reward of Rs. 5 lakh for him.
The court asked the investigating officer in this case Surat DGP to remain present with details. Sai’s lawyer argued that his client could not be declared wanted when he had already applied for anticipatory bail.
Justice HArsha Devani fixed the next hearing on November 27.
An FIR regarding rape and sexual assault was filed against Sai and his father Asaram by Surat police on October 6 at Jehangirpura police station based on complaints of two sisters of Ashram. The Surat police issued the arrest warrant of Sai on October 28.
