The Gujarat High Court today upheld a lower court’s decision and granted life imprisonment to five and 10 year imprisonment to one of the accused in the PAtan gang rape case.
In this case a PTC student was gang raped by her teachers.
The HC upheld life imprisonment to Ashwin Parmar, Mahendra Prajapati, Manish Parmar, Kiran Patel and Suresh Prajapati. While the court ordered 10 years RI for Atul Patel who was not involved in rape but was present at the site.
The incident came to light in 2008 when the girl collapsed in the school during prayer hour. She was taken to the hospital and the whole case came to light. The girl lodged a complaint against the six in Patan police. The trial was carried out in Patan district and sessions court which awarded the above sentence.
The accused moved the HC and hearing was carried out by the court.
