Bharat Patel, son of former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, today formally came back to Bharatiya Janata Party.
His rejoining BJP was announced by Gujarat BJP President R C Patel at a media conference attended by other senior BJP leader.
This development has assumed great political significance, though Bharat himself is not a force in the state politics. This is just because, Keshubhai who was with BJP all through his life, is now founder of Gujarat Parivartan Party which he floated in 2012to counter BJP.
Party performed miserably and is now in a very bad shape. This and informal meetings between Keshubhai Patel and his arch rival Narendra Modi had led to speculations that Keshubhai was to come back to back.
This was strongly denied by Keshubhai last month. However, in a short period, his son Bharat is back in BJP.
Bharat said that he had not joined GPP, but had actively campaigned for his father Keshubhai Patel, in December 2012 Assembly elections.
