Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi never said that his government had rescued 15000 Gujaratis in Uttarakhand, asserted Nitin Patel, Finance Minister and Gujarat government spokesperson. Show me the proof, he asked journalists during regular cabinet briefing in Gandhinagar today.
The challenge of Nitin Patel was in response to questions media persons asked him about controversy around the statement. He said that video footage of Modi’s interactions in Uttarakhand established that the statement was a creation of media.
Talking about Gujaratis in Uttarakhand, he said that till now government had record of seven deaths. Relatives of each of these victims will be paid Rs two lakh, he said. Still 221 persons are trapped in various places according to Gujarat government.
Gujarat government has announced aid of Rs five lakh to the family of the defence personnel killed in helicopter crash in Uttarakhand, the minister said.
