After historic Kankaria Lake, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has now decided to charge visitors to the river front.
Two gardens of riverfront were opened on Wednesday. Fee has been introduced in both.
A proposal for fee was cleared by the Standing Committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation today amidst protests from opposition Congress. Implementation of the decision has been left to the Municipal Corporation.
As per the resolution children up to the age of 12 will be charged Rs five while adults Rs 10. Senior citizens will be allowed entry on a fee of Rs five.
These gardens were opened by Chief Minister Narendra Modi and L K Advani on Wednesday. One garden is near Usmanpura while another is near Subhas bridge in the opposite direction.
