Nuclear Scientist Kakodkar to get Hari Om Mota Award

Nuclear scientist Anil Kakodkar will be honoured at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) in Ahmedabad on November 11 for his contribution to the development of indigenous nuclear reactor technology and formulation of policy framework in strategic areas.

Kakodkar, the former director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, will receive Hari Om Ashram Prerit Senior Scientist Award that includes a sum of Rs 2 lakh. The previous recipients of this award, instituted in 1998, include A P J Abdul Kalam, R Chidambaram, C N R Rao, RA Mashelkar and others, according to a release from the PRL.

PRL will also give the Buti Foundation Award for the year 2013 to Subrata Pradhan of Institute of Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar and Prasad Subramanian, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune for their significant contributions in the fields of Plasma science and technology.
