“Ramleela”, a film by Gujarati director Sanjay Leela Bhanshali was released today in all the cities of the state except Bhavnagar.
The film has evoked strong protests from Rajput and Kshatirya communities claiming that they were shown in bad light.
The director had published apologies in the newspapers and changed the dialogues of the film. Even the name has been changed after a Delhi High Court order. Theatres in Bhavnagar did not release the film saying that it had hurt the sentiments of the two communities.
Policemen were deployed outside each multiplex where the film was released. Though the police had urged the theatre owners to postpone the release by a day in view of Muharram but most theatres released it.
