A tree day festival to show case talent of budding artists

Taalaya, a platform for young upcoming artists has organized a three day event in which 50 young artists will show case their talent in classical music and Kathak dance.

This is the second year of such programme by Ahmedabad based organization inspired by famous Tabla maestro Munjal Mehta.

The programme starting January 31 is dedicated to three great artists of Indian Classical Music. They are late Ustad Hidayat Khan, Late Ustad Rehman Khan and late Pandit Nandana Mehta.

Munjal Mehta said that the problem faced by young artists is of identity and promotion after they learn classical music. Taalay has been set up with the sole purpose of providing a platform to these talented young artists. Youngest of the performers are just 12 year old and senior most is of 28 years of age.

The performances include vocal, Kathak, Violin, Harmonium, Sitar, Group Tabla Tabla Solo and Fusion music.

Talking to media, Dr. Hemant Patel, a trustee of Taalay said that last year over 1500 people attended the three day programme which had 75 artists. This year they expect audience of around 5,000, he said.
