BJP spokesperson I K Jadeja today criticized Congress for opposing BJP’s decision to field its party MLA for the post of Deputy Speaker saying that in 10 Congress ruled states the post of Dy Speaker was with Congress.
Jadeja issued a statement in response to the demand of Congress that the post of Deputy Speaker should go to Congress keeping high standards of morality and parliamentary traditions.
He said that in the country 18 states had deputy speaker of the ruling party. Of these ten states were ruled by Congress, he claimed. He gave the names of these states, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Asaam, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Kerela, Maharashtra, Mozaram, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.
Referring to the situation in Gujarat, he said that Congress had given this post to opposition during 1967-71 during its 20 year rule from 1960 to 1980.
