Tourists visiting the Gir forests - world fame abode of Asiatic lions- would now not have to wait in queues for permits to visit the forest.
The state government has launched online permit booking service for “Gir interpretation zones” at Sasan and Devaliya.
e-permits are non refundable. Only 50 percent of permits would be issued online while rest would be allotted at the forest office. On an average daily 90 permits are issued. On one permit maximum six persons with two children below 12 years are allowed. The fees is Rs.600 per person and for foreigners it is is Rs.2400. On Saturday and Sunday the charge is Rs.500 and Rs.3000 respectively.
One can apply for e-permit 3 months before and at most 48 hours prior to visit.
