Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad Gujarat Science City has organised a three day workshop to train students of Gujarat for the Science Olympiad. Senior scientist Narottam Sahoo of Gujarat Science City said the workshop will start on September 7. Sahoo said that the Science City, pioneer in promoting science education in Gujarat, had been conducting workshop for the last four years for the aspirants to participate in the Olympiad. This has led to substantial increase in the number of students from Gujarat from less than five hundred to about 3500. Sahoo, who is with the Gujarat Science City from its initial days, said that Science City was trying to mobilize students for Junior Science Olympiad which has been started from this year. The deadline for both Olympiad is September 15, he said. Gujarat Science City selects top five students of SSC examination from every district of Gujarat for selection for the three day workshop. Thus 125 students are picked up and groomed at the workshop, he said. The students in turn become catalytic agents for others to go for the Olympiad. A special informative CD has also been prepared which will give information about all Science Olympiads subjects, its syllabus, previous year question papers as well as guidance for the current year preparation.
