No stay on Gulbarg massacre trial

Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad Sessions court judge B. U. Joshi rejected plea of seven Gulbarg case witnesses to stay the trial. Earlier, Imtiyazkhan Pathan and six others had filed an application for the transfer of the case on the ground that they had no faith in the judge B. U. Joshi. However, principal judge rejected the application saying that it was not in his jurisdiction.
But the applicants moved again for the stay.This time they wanted stay until they file an appeal in the higher court. Today, advocate for witnesses S. M. Vora filed a plea to stay the trial whilst they ask for higher court’s permission for transfer of trial. However, Joshi rejected the application and observed that the Supreme Court wanted a fast trial of the case.
