Lalji of Swaminarayan sect accused of seeking sexual favours

In yet another controversy surrounding religious sects, would be Acharya of Swaminarayan sect has been charged with harassing a girl by sending his obscene photographs and demanding sexual favours. The accused Vijendra Prasad is the eighth descendent of Lord Swaminarayan.

Prasad alias Lalji Maharaj, son of Koshalendraprasad Maharaj of Kalupur Swaminarayan mandir would head Shri Narayan Dev Gadi of the sect. According to complaint by a girl Lalji asked for sexual favours and then uploaded his obscene photos. He had been in contact with the girl for last one year and they used to char regularly on whataspp.

The matter came to light when an NGO Lok Seva Samiti approached Ghatlodia police station with the girl’s complaint. The girl has claimed that Lalji reportedly threatened her when she refused his advances.

She has given police all the messages and photos which Lalji sent to her. According to the application Lalji has lakhs of followers and several women may have been his victim. The followers of the sect are in a shock. But a saint at the Kalupur mandir termed the allegations as false and baseless. He said that the girl had demanded huge amount of money from us and when we did not give she resorted to such tactics.

Ghatlodia PI said that police will take help of FSL and cyber experts to ascertain facts.
