From next academic year maths, science and English subjects in class 9 to 12 in state schools will have NCERT syllabus. This will help students to compete with CBSE students and also do better in NEET and JEE exams.
The state government had launched a pilot project in 57 English medium schools across the state in 2016. Now from June 2018 all schools under Gujarat Education Board will teach maths, science and English subjects in 9th and maths, physics, chemistry and biology subjects in 11th standard as per NCERT syllabus. Gujarati medium students will have books translated into Gujarati.
Starting 2019 class X and XII will have books as per NCERT syllabus, state education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma said.
