The Ministry of Railways has decided to reduce the number of tickets that can be booked online through IRCTC by an individual user to a maximum of 6 tickets in a month with effect from 15th February, 2016.
This will replace the existing system under which a maximum of 10 tickets can be booked online through IRCTC website in a month by an individual user. However, the existing condition will continue wherein these bookings will be subject to a limit of booking 2 opening Tatkal tickets between the period from 10:00 – 12:00 hours, in a day and 2 opening Advance Reservation Period (ARP) tickets between the period of 08:00 – 10:00 hours, in a day.
The move aims to deter touts involved in touting activities and to facilitate booking of tickets by genuine users, after carrying out an analysis of the online booking activity by the users through IRCTC.
